IMPORTANT LOGISTICAL INFORMATION

DATE:

 

"Innovations in Mobile Data Collection for Social Action" will run from 10am on Tuesday, December 8, through 5pm on Thursday, December 10.  

 

Please arrive at 9:30 am for registration and coffee on December 8th, as we will be starting at 10 am promptly.  We encourage you to partake for the entire three days, but if you are only able to come for part of the workshop, please let us know immediately, if you have not already.

ROOM RESERVATIONS:

If your name is NOT on this list, you are responsible for reserving and arranging your own accommodations. All workshop participants can get the special rate for rooms (roughly 95 JOD / 135 USD total with tax per night) by referencing the UNICEF code: 343250-2.

 

If you have not received an email from us approving that we will cover your accommodation expense, you will be expected to cover the cost upon checkout. Please get in touch with us as soon as possible with any questions.

TRANSFER FROM THE AIRPORT:

 

You are responsible for arranging your own transport from the airport. Please check http://airport.u.nu/AMM for more information. A taxi into the city is about JD 15-JD 20. The Airport Express bus runs every 30 minutes between 6am until 11pm, and costs JOD2. The trip from the airport to Abdali bus terminal in central Amman usually takes from 45 minutes to an hour.

  

 

COSTS:

 

The workshop itself is free for invitees and approved participants.

 

Participants will have to cover their own travel and accommodation expenses unless we have made specific arrangements with you about travel support.  Breakfast, lunch, and at least one dinner event will be provided by the organizers.

 

 

SCHOLARSHIPS & TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENTS:

 

If you have received a letter from us which approved your request for a travel scholarship, please be sure to bring your flight receipt to the event or email it to the organizers (to anoush[at]mobileactive.org).  

 

We will reimburse you for your flight ticket or car expenses (if you are traveling in the region) immediately after the event. Again, please note that we can only provide reimbursement after the event. 

 

 

VISAS:

 

The cost of one entry visa JD 10 (around $14) and for multiple entries it is JD 20 (around $28). Most nationalities can purchase a visa upon arrival at the airport.

 

Certain nationalities require an entry visa to be obtained prior to travel. Please refer to Ministry of Tourism site to determine whether your nationality requires prior visa clearance: http://www.visitjordan.com/visitjordan_cms/GeneralInformation/EntryintoJordan/tabid/61/Default.aspx

 

If you need a formal letter on behalf of the workshop to submit to a consulate or embassy in application of a visa, please email Anoush@mobileactive.org.

 

 

WEATHER AND DRESS:

 

Amman can be chilly at this time of year with high temperatures in the high teens Celsius/60s Fahrenheit during the day, so plan to dress accordingly.  Dress is business casual.  We recommend wrist/ankle sleeves for women at the workshop, elbow/ankle lengths for men to adhere to cultural norms of participants. Feel free to dress however you like in the evenings and on your own time, of course.  

 

 

TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT: 

 

We encourage you to bring a laptop to document and demo any projects or tools during the course of the workshop.

 

If you are planning on bringing any large or uncommon tech equipment other than basic laptops and cameras, please email anoush@mobileactive.org so that we can provide you with a formal letter of information on the event to have available, in case you any questions are asked of you at borders/airport security.

Thanks agian for your great workshop which held in Amman,It shold be very usefull fore us to get data directely from the cityzens but we need more work to teach people the our goals only to get right information from you directley and we have more work in medya to help us to teach people which they how can help us in this steps.
